Pyjama or Pajama?? What is the difference?

Pyjamas and Pajamas, you may be wondering what the difference is, right?

I have also asked this question before, let me me explain....

Both Pyjama and Pajama refer to sleepwear. However, Pajama is known to be American English and Pyjama is commonly used in the rest of the world.

If you are rolling your eyes that the Americans had to go and change yet another English word, let me tell you something (this might come in handy if you plan on going on on a trivia game show, this could be THE question that gets you the win, sssoooo...... concentrate!)

Let's start with the origin of the word Pyjama or Pajama.

It was first worn by Muslims in India and were known as Pai Jamahs. As Pyjamas/Pajama/Pai Jamahs became more popular around Europe, the word evolved into Pajama then from there then turned into Pyjama.

So while the Americans look to have just went their own way with the word, looks like the rest of the world just grabbed Pyjama and ran with it.

Which word do you use? Comment below, we would love to hear from you!
